Bomar Designs is a family owned and operated business located in America’s Heartland. The ornaments we manufacture are made in America, by hand, using time-tested formulas and techniques. Bomar Designs began in 1984 in California and has been operating in Kansas by current owner, Ed Semple, since 1997.
History of Composition Ornaments
The use of traditional composition ornaments as an architectural element to adorn interior architecture, furniture, fireplaces and wall décor dates back to the 1500’s. It was then that the recipes, manufacturing process and application methods were created by Italian craftsmen to replace costly hand-carved ornamentation. The use of “compo” continued to grow and thrive throughout Europe and held a significant role in European architecture for more than 400 years and eventually found its way to the United States.
