How long does it take to receive my order?
Most standard production orders are shipped in 2-3 weeks. All Bomar Designs' ornaments are made to order, no items are kept in stock.
Do I have to steam the ornaments?
No, you do not have to steam the ornaments. You can glue the ornaments and secure with small finish nails if the application requires. If you need the ornament to wrap around something or to be pressed into a deep contour, steaming will help the ornament become more flexible. It will also activate the glue in the compo and give you a secure bond once it's applied.
What if I don't use my ornaments right away?
The best way to keep ornaments "fresh" is to wrap them in plastic and store them in the freezer. When you're ready to use them, bring them out of the freezer and let them come to room temperature. The second best way to keep them is in an airtight container.
Do you ship ornaments outside the continental United States and Canada?
Yes, we're happy to ship orders outside the Continental United States and Canada. Because compo needs to be used while it is still "fresh" or pliable, all international shipments must be sent by airmail. Bomar Designs reserves the right to refuse orders that we believe are for the sole purpose of duplicating our products or our customers' products.
Can I just get some samples?
Yes, we will ship a predetermined set of samples plus our catalogs. Order samples
If you would like a few pieces of a specific design, you will need to contact us directly to place an order for those pieces.
Do you have an order minimum?
Yes. We have a $5 per item minimum. If you only need one piece and it costs less than $5, we will increase the quantity of that piece until we reach $5. We have a $10 handling charge on orders under $50. Also, if your order qualifies for one of our discounts, only items that have been ordered in quantities of 10 or more will receive the discount.
How do I pay?
We accept Mastercard and Visa credit and debit cards. After two orders, you can complete a credit application and establish Net 30 terms.
If I have a three-dimensional design can you reproduce it for me in compo?
Yes, we can make a custom mold for you. A mold will cost between $200 to $300 so we only recommend this avenue when you have an item that you will need to reproduce in fairly large quantities.
Do you have any standard discounts?
Yes, we offer a 20% discount on orders totaling more than $100 and a 40% discount on orders totaling more than $300. The discounts are only applied to those items ordered in quantities of 10 or more.
Are your ornaments finished or unfinished?
All of our ornaments are unfinished. You can finish them either before or after they are applied.
What are your ornaments made of?
Bomar Designs' composition ornaments are made from natural ingredients by hand using hand-carved or cast molds. They resemble firm but flexible clay that is pressed into molds and then cures or dries to a rock-like hardness.
How can I finish the compo ornaments?
Any finish that works on wood will work on compo. Refer to our "How To" section for more information on how to finish composition ornaments.
I like this ornament but can you make it smaller or bigger?
No. Each ornament is made from an existing mold. We cannot change the size.
Can you make your ornaments a different color?
No. They are a dark tan or putty color due to their ingredients and that is the only color we offer.
